Whilst UK businesses have many resources available to assist them to determine the recyclability of packaging disposed at kerbside, companies are sometimes still confused as to how various combinations of materials are likely to act throughout the recovery and recycling process. This has resulted in situations where businesses are reluctant to make claims about recyclability.
The PREP has been designed to address this confusion and has been constructed based on research commissioned by OPRL. It can now be used to underpin claims on OPRL's on-pack recycling label.
The PREP was originally scoped and commissioned by the Australian Packaging Covenant, and is managed and owned by PREP Design Pty Ltd, which was founded with the support of Green Industries SA and the Innovyz Waste & Recycling Technology Commercialisation Program.
